Why use an external blog platform like WordPress or MT to blog?
blog2008 asked:
My company publishes article content online. Our technology department considers a blog just another article type in our content management system. I feel that a blog is so much more – and that we should use WordPress or MT or another external blog platform to tap into the benefits of the blogosphere. But I can’t explain exactly why. I need supporting information to support my decision to use WordPress, MT etc.

WordPress and MT are just specialized content management systems.
If you already have a CMS, then mixing in WordPress or MT would be a complication. Better to add support for RSS/Atom/Comments/Calendar based indexes/etc to the existing system rather than confuse users with multiple user interfaces for subtlety different content.
