WordPress on your own website?
Lea87 asked:
I need help! I bought my own domain and web hosting with the intention of downloading and using WordPress. It’s for blogging. I’m hosted on GoDaddy, and I’m so lost. I had no idea it was this difficult. It’s all written in a way I, with no experience, understand. Where do I log in with my admin name and pw? This is really frustrating, and I’d appreciate anyone willing to take the time to help me out.
Thanks
Is it possible that it’s because my website isn’t working properly? I read somewhere that you should be able to login from www.yoursite.com/adminlogin..and when I enter my site, I get an error page?
I just set this up yesterday, so I’m stuck with GoDaddy for two months. I bought my domain from Yahoo. Ughh, this is nice info

First of all I recommend that you purchase web hosting somewhere else. GoDaddy is good for domain names but not for web hosting. If you’re new with this, buy hosting from a company that is willing to help you out when you need any support.
I recommend RadixHosting. You can install WordPress with only a couple of clicks via their control panel. It’ll ask you for an admin username/password and after the installation it will provide you with the link to your admin panel and how to login. Their services start at $3.00/month.
Trust me, I’ve heard bad things from GoDaddy when it comes to web hosting.
PS: You can simply keep your domain at GoDaddy and just point it to RadixHosting’s servers. It’s not hard and I’m sure they’re willing to help you out if you don’t know how.
The wordpress admin page is located at. The login screen should come up if it is your first login. The login page is…
If you haven’t pointed your domain name to godaddy’s server, you will get an error when trying to access anything with your domain name.
They should have sent you an email that gives you an ip address, and how to access your site with that ip address – it usually looks something like.
Find that email and read it to get the correct ip address.
If WP is uploaded in it’s on folder, it should be
yoursite.com/wp/wp-admin (or wordpress/wp-admin etcetera)
I’m not sure about the hosting thing, but try the wp thing.
You have my sympathy~! I did everything imaginable to get an answer to the exact question you’re asking. I guess we’re missing something……
I finally got so exasperated I deleted the WordPress “program” from my GoDaddy web site and cancelled my “subscription” to WordPress.
I’m currently looking for other options. If I figure it out, I’ll try to get back to this page to write to you.
Best of luck,
Lauren
PS: I’ve used GoDaddy as a host for many years and have had no trouble with it at all.
Just FYI
Just found this link:

It claims to have the resolution to the question. After hours of working on this today, this looked too complex for me (in this moment), but you might be able to use this.
