Wordpress.com blog plugins & tools?

Foxmuldergr asked:

I have a wordpress.com blog, not hosted in my own server but using the one from the site. I want to add a few tools like maps, stat counters etc but i read that wordpress.com allows limited use of these features and most plugins are designed for the blogs you host on your own. Can anyone suggest a few tools/plugins for wordpress.com, even if they have to be implemented using widgets? Do these plugins work on blogger too?

You can use a text widget to set up a stat counter. This link gives you some options and shows you how to set it up (http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/28/can-i-have-a-statcounter-on-my-blog/).

There’s also a link below for a tagging tool that will work with wordpress.com hosted blogs (go about half way down on the page to the modifications to make for wordpress.com). There’s also a link about embedding Technorati code below.

As far as whether they work with Blogger or not, most of these tools either work with Blogger or they have a version made for Blogger.
