Affiliate program can earn you more than twice what you are earning now
You are leaving huge chunks of money behind if you are not promoting affiliate programs. If you are seeking for remarkable possibilities with your blogging, affiliate program is the monetization way you certainly have to look into.
Look at the screenshot below for John Chow’s May 2008 earning. Affiliate commissions is the second highest income producer for his blog.
John Chow’s blog is quite famous and being in "money making" niche, he can easily attract lots of high paying ad buyers. That’s why "private ad sales" is his highest income producer. But for many other bloggers that’s not the case. They struggle with getting even a single advertiser. They mingle with adsense, kontera, text link ads etc.. but never get the kind of return in terms of money as they want to.
There are other group of smart bloggers who knows the benefits of promoting good Affiliate Programs. For them affiliate programs are the highest income producer and exceeds far beyond any other income source.
Look at it from this perspective. You may have noticed same banners being displayed at lots of blogs. Do you think those banners ads are purchased by the owner of the product themselves?
May be yes or may be no. Often the reality is many of the advertisers buying ad spaces in your blog are actually the affiliate of that product themselves and not the creator of the product. If they can profit by being an affiliate and paying you for the ad, then imagine how much more you can benefit by promoting that affiliate program yourself.
Think of the possibilities and fore-see how far you can go with your blog incomes.
Promoting affiliate programs in your blog is one of the best ways to earn maximum from your blog.
Just by selling ad spaces and putting up different type of ads, you are leaving behind a huge chunk of money on the table. And these have certain limits as well. You have limited number of ad spaces which you can sell in a month. You can’t sell more than what’s available in your blog.
The sneaky clever way of promoting affiliate programs which will actually add value to your blog post
If you be smart enough and promote affiliate programs the smart way then you can even earn two times more from your blog. You can even promote affiliate program in a clever way which will add value to your blog post and your readers will be actually happy to see them.
You can do so by linking specific keywords in your blog posts into affiliate programs.
Take the following example:
Your blog is about Health and Fitness and you’ve talked about "healthy diet". What you can do is you can link that very keyword to an affiliate program. Now your readers can follow that link to buy the related product and you’ll be the one earning commission out of it. That link will also help your reader get exactly what they want if they are really in need of knowing more about healthy diet.
Let’s say you have another post and you have the phrase "aerobic exercise". You can link this keyword to a good aerobic exercise tutorial video and if your readers buy the video from that very link you’ll be the one getting paid again.
Getting paid commissions out of the keywords that lead to affiliate links is not a small deal. Can you imagine how much impact will that be making to your overall blog income?
Grand, in fact! If you have not tried affiliate marketing yet, give it a shot! You’ll experience a significant positive turning point in your blogging career.
A single affiliate program can be a real eye-opener that can give you benefits like:
- You’ll get paid for your OLD blog posts as well
If you have a keyword linked to an affiliate program then it is going to stay there. That means you will be the one to earn commissions out of it, even if someone reads that post after say, 5 months or 8 months. The truth is you’ll get paid for your old blog posts as well.
- Your blog income don’t have to rely on traffic or your subscriber base
Ad spaces and programs like text link ads rely heavily on what kind of traffic you are receiving, how much rss subscribers you have, what’s the google page rank of your blog etc… The sad fact is that you don’t get paid what you really deserve from such services.
But with affiliate programs that’s not the case. If you promote good affiliate program which is what your blog reader exactly want then you can earn handsome amount of money from few visitors only.
- You can earn passive income as well
All your blog posts that laid idle can have keywords that you can link as affiliate links; this can earn you passive commissions for life. No matter from where and when visitors lands on your blog post. You’ll get paid when they follow the affiliate link from your blog.
There’s a great deal of earnings you can do with affiliate programs and if you’re wondering why your blog incomes are not satisfactory enough then Affiliate Program can be the missing puzzle in your blog monetization methods.

Affiliate programs can be a great source of income , and the thing is some have lifetime referral commissions and they tend to add up. Nice passive income by working little or not working at all
bright thoughts and ideas! i would be scouring within my old posts in a while now and start activating those related keywords in them
thanks for posting this!
Good advice. Another keyword trick is using the “alt” tag in both your affiliate link and image link.
For example:
Hi June,
can you explain further on the “alt” tag? thanks
Fantastic advise and it works. I used keyword/affiliate link in some previous articles on another site. Few days ago I bought into the hype and ordered the affiliate payload book, what a waste of time to read 300 pages and watch the videos. Lot of known stuff and I returned it asap. Tips like this one here are worth more money and are FREE, keep up the good work. Thanks again
Thank you for the information. I need to restructure the way my blog in monetized!
Kris
Yeah, that works. And in my case I’m using a smart step-by-step strategy where you entice folks buy from your affiliate link when you’re offering them one or more special bonus gifts.
It works all the time, almost in any niche.
I seen a lot of bloggers using this little tricks promoting affiliate programs the sneay way. I never payed any attention to the highlighted words in blog post before until I started blogging myself. At first I thought it was spammy but now I understand the concept
Excellent advice, I will have to keep that in mind for the future.
In the mean time I,m off to monetise my old blog posts.
This is a great idea! Now, MBA just needs to come out with a plug-in that will add the links to your specified keywords, automatically. Make it easy to manage and add in as many keywords as you like. How about it Pawan?
# Holger - I can’t believe that.. You mean it was a total waste of time and money.. can’t you find at least one little tip from affiliate payload which you could use to boost your affiliate sales
# Codrut, there are always some points to take from any publication, if it fits your business. However, if you compare the sales promo (now you can beat the big guys at their own game, etc.)with the delivered info in the book, they are far apart. Advise in book: It requires intensive research (which we know has to be done for any business), financial outlay for testings, and only partly went into details, and many referrals to look at “this and that resource to educate yourself, which this book is not about etc.”
In my humble opinion, it’s just another “guru” riding the wave of “wanna be successful, you need this!!!”
Compare it to great services like maxblogpress, Gobala, Aaron Well, and a few others, how deliver more advise in shorter form, and a lot is free.
Best Tip ever.

When i discovered affiliate marketing. I quit pasting adsense codes on my blog. I started to make sensible income that I was proud to tell my friends about.
Many thanks for Sharing this.
Its a high time bloggers take pride in their Profession
I think a plugin you might be able to configure to accomplish this would be the WP Smartlinks plugin.
You can link urls with keywords in your post and pages. No reason why you couldn’t make the urls your affiliate links for these keywords. It will add them automatically.
If this works it will tag all of your old posts with these links if it finds the keyword in your content.
Just an idea. I am going to try and see if I can do this but do not have much time for testing it so if anyone else wants to test this out be my guest.
aLinks is exactly what you need, Tim.
A great plug-in for automatically linking keywords in your blog posts.

To go through a blog and link specific keywords to an affiliate program is very time consuming. There is software available to buy that automatically links your chosen keyword with your chosen affiliate program.
I use a free wordpress plugin in a lot of my blogs called alinks which works as well as if not better than most of the paid stuff.
You can read about it at http://alinks.headzoo.com and download it at http://alinks.headzoo.com/downloads/alinks2.0.2.zip

# Holger… I agree with your review completely. AP was merely a survey course on all the known ways to do affiliate marketing. It didn’t go into enough details to use any method effectively. In fact, a few of the methods described is quite financially dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.
# Travis… The WP plug-in you mentioned can work well. Just be careful because it sometimes links keywords for posts that may be out of context. This can confuse your readers.
Affiliate programs are great to promote on your blog. I have had success with click-through rates by adding the affiliate image within my post in the upper-right-hand side. Here is the code snippet that I use.
Just replace “[” with “”.
[div style=”margin: 1em; float: right; display: block;”][a href=”http://www.youraffiliatelink.com”)[img style=”border: medium none ; display: block;” src=”http://www.yourimage.jpg” alt=”Your Keyword”][/a][/div]
Yes it makes real good profit from affliate advertising. Those interested can get a good affliate program from link share.
It’s a great way to increase the site earnings. When I started my affliate advertising my income from the site got doubled.
I am having my site for a long time and use adsense. But when I started promoting affiliate programs and advertising them on my site my income from the site just sky rocket.
It’s weird as I’m thinking more about affiliates, all the articles that I have came across today are all related to affiliates. I think it’s a pretty good omen for me.
Very insightful and well-explained. Great tip.

Yan, all those articles were already there. It’s just that you are started noticing them now.
It’s called subconscious attraction. Whatever you focus will expand.
Do this exercise:
Write down all the things you want to learn as well as the things you want to get. Then think for a while about each item at a time about how you can get those.
Now, just pass your day as usual. You’ll start noticing that the things that needed for achieving what you want get automatically in front of you. Even if you don’t focus on it actively your subconscious mind is always working for you on the things you have focused on before.
I haven’t heard of the term “subconscious attraction” before but it all seems to make sense to me. I admit I’m not the type who is great at being organized or keeping a habit of writing down my plan but hey, there is room for improvement I guess..Thanks for the advise. I’m learned..

I’m getting more turned on by affiliate marketing the more I read about it, but what I’m finding is that all the products I want to promote have their own program so keeping track of of where you are signed up and what you might be earning their is a potential nightmare. Is there anything central that can track everything?
i have some affiliate ad’s on my blogs, affiliate marketing is a great thing whoever came up with the idea.Making online reading john chow’s blog gave me inspiration
Thanks for the great tip!
Thanks for a great post.
I make about 20% of my online income from affiliate links.
ok cool
atleast tell me the affiliate’s url plz
Thank you for this Pawan!! Great post..
Great post Pawan
I’ve been starting to try this recently on one of my sites, i’ve been getting quit a number of clicks on the links, but so far no sales. I think i just need to focus on more tightly themed kw phases, at the moment some are pretty broad.
Jayen
It is a time consuming and tedious process, adding affiliate program links and articles on your site with the appropriate key words. Be patient though and keep working on it. The payoff will be well worth the effort. Let me know how you’re doing in your venture. I would love to hear from you and others out there working to improve blog earnings.
Thanks for the great advice. If you look at my fairly new website, which I started before my blogging ventures that have taken over my life, you will see that I am into affiliate programs. Now my website needs work, a better presentation and more content. That is my intention this winter. I also had the idea to promote my own affiliate programs on my blogs. Thanks for the great reminder.
By the way, I love your blog and the informative information that you post. Thanks for being out here in cyber space. Blessings in your work and in your creativity.

Wonderful post, thanks for the advice. It would be great if you can list out the best affiliate programs available as of today!!
Raju,
Best affiliate program depends upon your niche and the interest of your visitors/readers. The affiliate program that is going very good for me may be the worst for you and vice versa.
Simply think about what product will genuinely help your reader and search for that kind of affiliate program. Try out several of them and see which of them converts better for you. Stick with the good one and drop the bad one.
Great tips, and a great post on the whole. But I maintain a Video Games site, reviewing video games and covering news from the gaming industry. I can’t figure out a way to link key words to affiliates.
Any help?
i think this plug-in will explode the internet .. and will make us rich
[…] when I got an email from Pawan about increasing your blog profits using keyword links. I quickly commented on his post about keyword linking that he needed to create a plugin for this […]
Pawan, great post - congrats! Cannot agree with you more that by using adsense and text links, people leave a lot of money on the table. Part of any blogger biz plan should to find affiliate programs in their niche and get rid of dimes-paying adsense.
