Music To My Ears…

  • Sharebar

You may not have seen this before, but Internet radio has changed dramatically in the last few months with the introduction of Pandora.

Pandora allows users to create their own ‘stations’ based on theme or artist. For example, I have a station called “Sting”. Sting is one of my favorite performers, so I created a station that plays his music.

But, Pandora does not just play Sting in my Sting Channel, it plays music similar to Sting then tries to ‘discover’ what music I like by allowing me to rate the music it selects “like Sting” by giving it a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’.

The site is supported by ad revenue, but there is an annual subscription that removes the ads for $39.

    Exactly what is a ‘blog’.
I thought it was a type of diary but everyone seems to be using it for other things, as all I seem to see is ‘blog this, blog that, your blog could be worth money, etc’.
    Thank you

I don’t know how I found your site (just surfing I guess) but you are dead-on about Pandora. I’ve been listening to my own custom-made stations since last June (2007)… I absolutely love it.

There’s really no need to pay the $39 as the ads do not interrupt the music stream, they are banners on the site which you only see if you’re switching stations or adding stations, etc… the only reason to pay the 39 bucks is to support pandora.com – which is a very good idea.

Oh yeah – I cam here to get your stripe-ad plugin – that’s cool too :-)

Thanks for the compliments, John! It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying your Sting station.
Dave’s right, the ads don’t interfere with the music, so unless you have $36 that you’re dying to give to Pandora, feel free to continue to listen for free!

At the moment, pandora is just open to the US. It’s a pitty.
