Get the search engine vistors glued to your blog

Picture this: A visitor comes to your blog through a search engine but instead of clicking back to try for another search result, they simply stick to your blog!

How can someone get glued to your blog if there’s nothing specific related to what they’re looking for?

Yes they can, if you show them you’ve got more to your blog that they just can’t get enough of.

If you’ve noticed, search engine visitors are usually sort of impulsive visitors who want what they’re looking for, within few seconds. If they don’t find anything related to what they’re searching for, they’ll quickly hit back and look for another search result. Who’d have enough patience to go through every blog thoroughly?

But you know what? To make an impatient visitor patient enough to discover your blog exclusively, we have added a new feature in the psychic search plugin.

Everything you pictured few moments ago, you can picture them again, this time for real! Check this out.

But before giving you the details about the feature, lets see what the problem is and how can it be fixed:

Fact 1: People don’t use the right keyword while searching what they want

Most people don’t use specific keywords while searching what they want. They might be visualizing something else but while typing a keyword, they might get vague and use wrong keyword for searching.

So, even if the search engine produces exactly relavant search results for any given keywords, the final results might not be what the users actually want.

Solution: Give the users other possibly matching, similar blog posts which might be the exact posts they’re looking for.

Fact 2: Even Search engines are not perfect to return exactly relevant search results

Let’s say the user has used a right key keyword this time but the truth is- even the search engines are not perfect to return the exact matching results. They will often return unmatching search results.

Well, what if your blog has the exact blog-post that a visitor wants but the search engine is showing another blog post in the search result?

Solution: When the visitor lands on your page, show them other matching blog posts so that they’ll find the exact blog post they want.

Before you wonder how to do all these things and find it out to be way too complex, I’ve come up with a simple automatic solution. Psychic search will automatically do all this for you. It will show the relevant blog posts to your visitors and soon before you realize, the visitors have somehow got glued to your blog!

For example, say you have a blogpost on ” Fitness and health” . Well, when a visitor lands in your blog via search engine by typing “fitness training” , what they’ll see is :

related-posts.png

They’ll see related posts related to fitness training in your blog So, if the article on “Body fitness: Putting it First Into Your Lives” is not relevant enough, then instead of exiting out of your page they’ll click the related posts on fitness training. That way, visitors get a vision that you have surplus relevant materials in your blog that they might find useful enough.

There are some more new features added in this latest version of psychic search:

* Searches from search results

You can know the exact search keywords used by your visitors in the search engines.

* Get daily/weekly/monthly report of the searches

Now you don’t have to be login to your wordpress for watching the search report. You can automatically receive the daily/weekly/monthly report via email.

With all this added advantage, you’ll definitely get more. So, download this plugin now, to enjoy all it’s privilege.

Is it built into the current plugin, or is a new download necessary?

I mean, i already have the original physic search on my blog. Do i need to download this new one, too?

Let me know. Thanxs! (looks good)

Missy.

I really don’t see the benefit of this at all - it’s nothing more than some recommended posts, which there are already bunches of plugins for …

2008-05-28 00:14:24

All those “related posts” plugins show the related posts on the basis of the content of the current post.

Psychic search is different. It grabs the actual keyword searched at search engine and shows the related posts according to that keyword. The related posts generated by psychic search will be much more relevant to what the user is trying to find.

I have had the plugin for a few days and it is very valuable to me. In fact, I was surprised how often people search various terms.

The email you sent mentioned an upgrade, but it seemed to link to the original plugin, so I did not download it.

Is there a different place for the upgrade, or did you just replace it?

Thanks again; this rocks IMHO.

Kim

Kim,

Ya, that email link to the same page from where you downloaded the plugin previously. Now, since the plugin has been updated, when you download again you’ll get the updated version.

Hi Pawan,

Excellent work!

I started testing it on my site and it work excellent (no issues).

Now, I want to try other Theme (ProSense Redux) and I’m adding widget “MY RECENT POSTS”, the Related Posts From SE show up on Top of the Post (which is fine, I wanted it that way), BUT the Related Posts are also showed below “MY RECENT POSTS” (which I do not want).

Any hints on how to avoid Related Posts For Visitors From Search Engines to show up twice?

Thanks in advance,

Héctor

Hi Pawn,

just to let you know that it seems to be ok now. I’ll share what I did in case it helps somebody else:

1) I noticed the same issue happened when there was no Widget. On my Old Theme I have it working without Widgets.
2) I checked the side_bar.php file from my old theme and I noticed it had this entry:

3) I checked the equivalent file for my New Theme, and I noticed this entry:

“>

4) I removed the entry from my new theme and typed in the one from my old_theme. It now shows the Related Posts just one…Now, I have to check that I did not break something else :)

Thanks
Héctor

I will try this, but may i know how it works? is it work like sphere related content or you work with another trick? thanks.

If it works like sphere related content i wonder that visitors will landing to another suck blogs,hehe..
*just kidding*

2008-06-04 03:25:03

caTcode, this plugin first grabs the searched keyword and then pull the related posts from YOUR blog. So the visitors will click on one of the other posts you have in your blog.

Don’t worry, your visitors won’t go to other blogs like in sphere’s related content.

Recently one of my friends started an obsession with the actor Nicholas Cage (mostly because their names are both Nicholas - sounds strange but he is strange and that isn’t the point). After asking around the rest of my friends he seems to be a very controversial figure.
What does the forum think? do you love the all action superhero? Or do you hate the droning voice of the man who does nothing but action shooters?
