The Importance of Branding

Branding is all important for those of use who want to be recognized for their name, business idea, business or product. Like the big name brands such as Sony, Amazon, Google, Yahoo, etc. business professionals such as freelancers, product developers, writers, pro-bloggers all need a brand to be instantly recognized by.

For most, the brand name is either their own name, or else the name of the product they developed. Not only will others know who they are dealing with, but if we brand ourselves properly, then our name will be a synonym of quality further down the track.

We all know that big name bloggers such as ShoeMoney, John Chow, Yaro Starak, Maki and Daren Rowse have managed to do just that. They branded themselves through continuously using their own name or that of their website.

Branding can be done in many ways, but probably the most prominent ways are either:

  • Buying your own name domain (ideally this is your name.com) Freelancers should use this to create an online CV, client testimonials and even a little bit of history about themselves as the person they are. I’ve created my own on www.MonikaMundell.com and it will show you what can be done with a simple blog.
  • The other way to brand yourself is via your product creations name. So if you develop product XYZ, then you would brand yourself with a XYZ.com domain name and use this as your digital footprint wherever you go online.

Even though branding is essential for some bloggers or website owners, it isn’t for others. If you are a niche blogger, or a black hatter, you won’t need to worry about branding at all, since you will make your money via hidden methods. The same applies for those with free blogs.

Whatever it is you decide to do, if you intent to brand yourself, then do it now, before your name is taken.

Stumble to Traffic Heaven

Stumble Upon is probably the most popular social networking tool these days. If not, it certainly accounts for a good amount of traffic for bloggers in all niches. It would be easy to get blinded and start stumbling like mad in the hopes of getting a slice of this. But using Stumble Upon does require some finesse and personal engagement in order to work.

See, you won’t become a power stumbler if you keep stumbling your own posts. Far from it actually, the stumble community hates those who keep giving themselves the thumbs up but fail to take some time out to vote for others (stumble).

stumble-upon.jpg

There is no secret in becoming a top stumbler, it is a simple as to become a frequent daily user and involving yourself into the community. It is as easy as signing up for a free account, then installing the Stumble Upon toolbar. Once you got this, you are set to stumble to your hearts content.

stumble-upon-1.JPG

While browsing the Internet you can click on the thumbs up if you like a site very well, or else you click on the thumbs down. Personally I never use the thumbs down feature, if I don’t like what I see, I simply stumble on. Via your Stumble Upon admin (which sits in your toolbar) you can navigate to your own page. This will give you an easy overview as to how many stumbles you have done so far, how many friends you have, how many reviews, etc.

capturestumble-upon-2.JPG

Once you have some fans, you can choose to add them to your friends list which will allow you to send your favourite posts to your friends to stumble for you and vice versa. Just be careful, as I think the maximum amount of friends you can have in your Stumble Upon profile is 200. It pays to be choosy here.

Stumble Upon is a fantastic social networking site that will bring you lost of daily traffic if used properly. By joining various stumble interest groups you will also get wider exposure. If you use Stumble Upon with a daily dose of excitement, you will see results.

Happy stumbling

Free Online Whiteboard Application

by John Williams

I think this is pretty neat…

According to basement.com:

“This is why the Internet is cool. You can share an idea, and name that idea and if the idea is interesting enough, it can catch on. Since sketchcast.com debuted, the idea of “sketchcasting” finally found a tool that made it a whole lot easier. Next thing you know, the term “sketchcast” is showing up in over 320,000 Google results. I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of false positives in there because the term didn’t exist three months ago.”

Sketchcasting is a way to quickly illustrate your point using a web ‘whiteboard’ with sound… while you’re drawing your illustration you can also record yourself with a simple PC mic.

Can you say “easy way to make a product”? or a blog post?

Check it out it’s 100% free:

Can A Free Blog Traffic Exchange Really Bring More Visitors?

by Monika Mundell

A free blog traffic exchange is made possible by two bloggers joining a service that promises them more traffic. These exchanges are made via various forms of free trade which we will cover in this article. Despite the popular belief that these free blog traffic exchanges hardly work, some blog owners claim that they do.

One thing we know is that the weblog (blog) market is huge and will not slow down quickly. In fact some say that many online businesses will enter the blog market at some stage in their lives and a free blog traffic exchange can act as a traffic converter for these new blog owners.

Blog traffic exchanges can be made possible by using widgets like the ill-famed Blogrush, alternatively there are blog traffic exchange sites that trade your time spent surfing the web and playing games to send you blog traffic instead.

Whether these kinds of exchanges serve a bloggers interest is left to discover by blog owners who are game enough to give this a try. It all sounds good on paper (ahem..on a blog posts) but in reality these traffic exchanges hardly work for most bloggers.

The reason being is that most bloggers simply don’t have the leverage of a huge blog network to make these free blog traffic exchanges work for them. For this to work, a blogger needs to have an established blog (network) to gain the most possible amount of traffic in return for little time spent. Most blog owners often invest many hours of their precious time into these free blog traffic exchange sites to find out that they simply wasted their time for nothing.

We all want more traffic for our blog and the thought of exchanging free traffic is tempting. I’m not stopping anybody to try a free blog traffic exchange tool or site to see whether they can trade some free traffic to gain more visitors, but I do warn you that most likely you will not achieve what you set out to do.

Earn Money with BANS

BANS is a relative new online software that allows you to make money with EBay and Google Adsense. The great thing about BANS is that it will build your very own EBay shop according to the keyword you choose to target. Ideal for maturing brand new domains, BANS will give you the option of set and forget and earn money in the meantime.

bans.png

Admittedly you won’t earn a fortune with BANS straight out. Some BANS users earn a good figure every day and others maybe $1 /day. What determines your income with BANS is a few factors, namely:

  • the age of the domain
  • how well your choose your keyword
  • how well you set up the store following instructions

BANS software has been created to allow users to set up their own stores using the EBay marketplace and other forms of advertising. You are not limited to using the afore mentioned combination either. You can incorporate Amazon, Clickbank and whatever other affiliate program you feel happy to peddle.

Since the inception of BANS in the middle of last year, they have come a long way with more options to personalize the themes like using your own logo header. To set up BANS you first need to purchase the software and then set it up on your own domain.

BANS is delivered with tons of supporting materials that will make it easy for you to set up your very own niche website (store) within a couple of hours. Once you own the BANS software, you can build as many niche stores as you like.

Positive side of BANS:

  • easy to set up
  • set and forget
  • earn money with your own niche store
  • allows you to be unique

Negative side of BANS:

  • slow earner unless you have an established domain with high PR
  • need your own hosting
  • costs money upfront

I’m actually in the process of setting up some niches with BANS right now. My plan is to set them up, then basically forget about them except some SEO. In a years time or so, when the new domains I purchased for my BANS sites are out of the Google sandbox, I can either flog them for a good profit, or else work them to earn me way more.

How to Create A Blog

by Monika Mundell

How to create a blog is probably one of the most asked questions on the Internet these days. To start a blog really is very easy, despite the belief of wanna be bloggers who struggle with their blog setup. The quickest and best way to make a blog is to create a free blog with one of the many platforms readily available. The following are the most widely used blog platforms:

Whichever blog platform you end up choosing when starting a blog, you will be guided along step by step as long as you read the onscreen information. To create a weblog (blog) will take you no longer than 10 minutes in most cases to set up. The blog setup is normally straight forward and doesn’t require any coding knowledge. This is only necessary once you want to start to personalize your blog. I get many emails where people ask me, “how do I start a blog”, “how do I create my own blog”, “how do I start a weblog”, “how do I start my own blog” or “how do you set up a blog” and my answer is always the same.

It depends on which blogging platform you are thinking of using. I could give you tutorials for each and every one of them, but this would really make this blog post endless and boring. Plus, many bloggers have already written articles on starting a blog. The best way however is to create a blog for free.

Whether you decide to create a business blog or create a blog with WordPress, you need to understand that as long as you use free blogging platforms you will be severely limited in blog design, setup, using additional tools and creating a truly personalized weblog.

If you read the instructions on the respective blog platform you will find all relevant information. WordPress is by far the most powerful blog software to startup with. You can create a blog for free in minutes. Then you just write a post and build on this. Just be aware that there are free WordPress blogs and self hosted which are totally different. If you intention is to make money online by starting a blog, then you should seriously consider getting a webhost and setting up WordPress. To create a blog on a self hosted domain, you will need to get the WordPress software from WordPress.org instead of WordPress.com (which is only for free blogs).

Should you still wonder how to create a blog right now, I suggest you visit one of the mentioned blogging platforms and choose an appropriate one to create a free blog. It is best to get comfortable with a free blogging software first and learn the ropes before paying for hosting and not knowing what to do.

Get Your Postal Mail … online?

by John Williams

I just has to tell you about this because it’s so

…. so… weird.

Imagine getting your mail online.

No, not your email, your REAL, PHYSICAL, POSTAL mail.

Earth Class Mail will scan your physical mail and send you an email when it arrives and send you the scan to your email.

earth class mail

You forward you physical mail to their facility in Beaverton, OR.

It’s the weirdest, most unlikely service I’ve ever seen online… who doesn’t love to open their own mail??? ‘-)

Well, I guess there are some people… especially small businesses who use the service to replace an ‘employee’ who would do the same thing… open and sort their mail and it’s a lot cheaper than paying a staffer.

It’s also a way for you guys in Asia or Europe or UK to have a US mailing address ;-)

But it does open up the ‘idea gate’ and stretches the idea of what the ‘Internet’ can do…

Think of ways you can use the Internet to interface with some activity now that is totally OFFLINE.

It opens up some interesting possibilities :-)
