How I made Article Writing More Enjoyable and Profitable
Article writing for a large majority of people seems to be more of a headache and task than hobby. Especially if you are into internet/affiliate marketing.
I have over 15 websites. I get traffic to all of them. Some get more than others.
As i was sitting in front of my computer early in the morning one day, i just “stared” at my screen looking over my traffic stats and kept focusing my attention on the sites that i have that were getting the most traffic and ignoring the others. I couldn’t figure out off the bat why 3 of my sites were getting 3-4 times more visitors than the other 12 sites.
Then it happened!
This is nothing new to me or really anyone else. I realized that the reason a few of my sites were receiving a larger , more steady stream of traffic was because of this one , simple thing:
Passion !
I was interested in writing more for those particular blogs than the others because i was interested in the subject matter. Most of us that are into affiliate marketing are usually doing it for one thing only: the MONEY ! yes ?
OK, i guess i am right.. lol.
My point being is that it is much, much easier to write about any topic no matter what it is only if you have an interest and/or are knowledgeable on the subject field.
How many times have you sat in front of your computer ( lets say, for example: Psoriasis Skin Conditions ) and tried to write an article ((hopefully, all unique)) and reached a point where you wanted to NOT write anymore or switch subjects to do something else entirely ? Sound a little familiar? I happen to have a blog titled: PsoriasisHelpOnline.com. What led me to create a blog on this subject matter were two things:
1. I found myself very itchy one day and convinced myself that i had psoriasis ( I did not have it ) and
2. I figured that i would try and monetize on this subject and try to make some affiliate cash through Clickbank and MarketHealth .
Eventually, I did make a few sales here and there but soon realized that i was not writing new content for months after some time. I do not know about you but writing posts and articles on Psoriasis is more boring than doing mandatory community service! There were times that i would say to myself that i would rather work for free than write another article on this site. I had no motivation to write for this site because to me, this was extremely uninteresting. This also happens to be the case with 9 other sites i have which are also not doing what i hoped for. Now, do not get me wrong because if you happen to really have a skin condition like psoriasis and know a little bit about it to write enough and keep people coming back to your site for more, then, go for it.
I believe that one big factor many of us forget to think about before creating a blog or website is our passion to write about something that not only interests others but ourselves more importantly. As soon as i realized that this was the reason for less traffic to the majority of my sites, i then “switched” gears to writing just for the select few that i actually had interest and a passion for. It seemed to be a small miracle for myself a week or two after i published a few new articles on those site while witnessing a boom in my traffic. I felt like i was reborn in my writing aspect in life.
This leads me to say that I really enjoy writing on 3 of my sites including Blogtools.biz
I now notice that i write on all 3 of these blogs more than all the others combined ! To myself, this is a revelation ! By doing this, not only have i increased my natural/organic traffic, I also increased my sales from my select few affiliate products i have on those sites. One thing I learned is by writing your own, unique content from your own brain and not someone else s, people who visit your blog either for the first time or repeat visitors, will undoubtedly know that a human being that has a passion for this material is the one solely responsible for writing the article. People just know this ! When someone reads anything on my blogs, I want them to know that the information is coming from me and my heart and soul.
Below is an example of what happened with my traffic booming after concentrating on just ONE of my sites(click in the image to enlarge):

So, to make a long story shorter, I now have more subscribers and a more targeted, genuine audience that visits my 3 blogs now. Plus, i also got rid of 5 sites because of this. I realized i had too many blogs to begin with. I was thinking more money making than actual good, unique article writing. I now have made more sales as i am watching my visitor stats increasing steadily. I am more happy and eager to write because i know that whenever i post something new, its going to have more meaning knowing that it is coming from my passion of writing rather than trying to “invent” interesting content.
Try answering this question in your head:
If you were given an opportunity to, lets say, write a story for an upcoming movie that Steven Spielberg was going to direct, would you write about “Psoriasis Treatment” or an electronic product that you were trying to promote to make money? No, you probably would not! I am sure you would come up with something much more interesting that would lure people to want to see the movie, right? .. Well, just apply this to a “New” blog or site you are about to create and I guarantee you will enjoy writing more on a regular basis. Your article writing skill will not only improve but will naturally feel yourself gliding through and being more creative as time goes by. Traffic and sales will come with less effort and time will be well spent.
One final suggestion: Test out what I have been talking about. Either start a new blog on something you enjoy and/or get rid of all or a few blogs that you are NOT interested in. Concentrate for one month on the blog/s that ONLY interest you. After one month, check out your Google Analytics or whatever statistical program you have that monitors your visitors and clickthrough rates. See if you notice a big difference.
I really believe you will notice!
Good Luck,

hi MaxBlogpress, at the beginning, I was somehow like you. I thought of creating any site about any topic which I feel that can make money, instead of one that I’m passionate about.
I believe passion is really important. Sometimes, being passionate will gives you the energy to write 3-4 articles one shot, compared to writing an uninteresting article, which I struggled to write even after 4 days of brainstorming.
I look forward to more goodies!
Thanks!
Dn
Fortunately, I have a passion for writing stories and creating scenarios. This allows me to come up with interesting content on just about any niche, because “real life” events, even if they’re fictitious are captivating and entertaining.
So I like your Spielberg approach
We tend to think every blog post needs to be facts or some step by step instructions, but the idea is to draw people in to see the point you’re trying to make. And what better way than to paint a picture with a story?
Great post!
I agree with what you’ve said and I feel it’s much easier to write about topics you’re passionate about. By doing that, your articles with reflect your knowledge and enthusiasm and you’ll begin to attract and retain more visitors. However, if you’re passionate about something where there’s no buyer demand, you most likely won’t make much money.
Enjoyed reading your article.
I have had the reverse effect where I began writing with no interest in the subject then I became interested in it by writing.
Passion is a key to success in the blogging world, no doubt. I have scaled down my blogging operation to 2 blogs that I really care about and I have seen amazing results because of it. A suggestion would be to outsource the content writing on the the other blogs that you are less passionate about.
Max, I agree with you that passion plays a very important part in how we respond to updating our blog content.
Your article was very incisive as always.
I agree fully with this article. Every blogger I follow lives by this credo- write articles on subjects you are passionate about. If you are blogging just for money, you don’t have your reader and his issue in mind, and ultimately they will go somewhere else.
Good advice. It’s time to cut out the noise of all of those other blogs you’re just not as interested in, and finish building up the ones you’re truly passionate about. I think the majority of online marketers have to learn this the hard way…I know I did.
Ha ha… In my case my passion is to mass automate trillions of autoblogs.
I make more money doing that then writing about it, so I guess I’ll just stick to autoblogging.
I agree that to write your best you need to be passionate about the subject. I like the way you made a test study out of your blogs and dropped the ones you’re not interested in. I feel you’re doing your readers a favor because they don’t keep coming to your blog hoping to find new content, only to be disappointed with no post being made.
Great job and good luck in the future.
What about people having passion for lots of things. My blog cover anything that i like..
Thanks!
I can’t do anything I’m not passionate about. I find it too difficult and too much like hard work because I don’t enjoy what I am doing.
When I connect to what I am passionate about, no matter what it is, things become easier and flow more naturally including the flow of money associated with it.
Great topic!

Having been a salesman for 40+years. One of the first things i learned was that you had to believe in your product.Blogs are just the same, getting people to believe in you and what you are telling them.Once people sense your belief, you will have a friend (customer, subscriber ) for life.
Great story. I have experienced exactly the same as you. I have created many blogs, and in the end, I have three left… that’s all due to passion.
But it’s not all about passion, it’s also about writing.
I created one about vegetarianism, and that’s a topic I’m very passionate about. But after a few months, I couldn’t find anything to write about. I ended up writing about what I had eaten for breakfast and dinner, and that wasn’t any interesting (not for the reader and not very interesting to write about).
The three blogs I have left are blogs that I really find interesting (all about Internet marketing) and easy to write about.
I think that it helps to start off with a blog in a niche that you are passionate about but I don’t think you have to be passionate about other topics to write about them. Journalists after all can write about any topic.
You may be more motivated to write about the topics you have some interest in or knowledge of but you can outsource the content or buy PLR that you can rewrite.
By the way, I find psoriasis interesting because my son has it and because of my background in health.
I have been telling people the same thing on my blog. In my opinion you are better off focusing on doing more work on the topics that really interest you. Your quality level is much higher and you don’t need to sell your soul to make money from it.
Focus on the topics you really want to work and to write more articles about it. Side topics might pop up from time to time but really work hard on the topics that really interest you a lot..
Writing is must be fun and enjoyable to the topic we write So the write will be easier and enjoy.
Thanks
Denis
Yeah, if you want to be successful, you have to put passion into your work.
Excellent advice. As all gurus tell you try and concentrate on one subject matter and work on it. There are people out there interested in ever niche subject.
