How to Invite Quality Link and Traffic by Getting Involved
I recently started an investing blog called my10000dollars.com, and just like any other start-up blog, I was challenged with the lack of traffic and backlinks.
Being amateur and uneducated, I’ve tried various methods that provided little benefits. I’ve submitted my sites to directories, I’ve posted comments on forums and blogs, I even paid $ for Google Adwords and StumbleUpon campaigns. Even though my traffic improved temporarily, it was just that, temporary. My bounce rate was extremely high, and reader retainment from the campaign was almost unnoticeable. Despite the investment I made, my visitor and page view count have significantly declined thereafter. I didn’t even see much increase in the RSS subscriber count.
As I was scratching my head over how to successfully drive traffic to my site, I came up with an idea that proved out to be extremely beneficial – getting involved with prominent sites. It sounds pretty obvious and simply said right? Well let me explain exactly what I mean.
I have been an occasional reader at www.timothysykes.com which is a blog owned by Tim, a penny stock investor who makes a living with his blog. His site is ranked around 50,000 on Alexa with thousands of page views per day. Certainly an attractive site to get a link from. In his site, he offers a subscription service called TIMAlerts in which he sends out a daily newsletter with his penny stock picks helping readers identify the “hot” trades.
In order for me to get his attention, I decided to actually subscribe to his subscription service. I then contacted him indicating that I’m going to do a 30 day “Tim Sykes Challenge” on my blog “testing out” his services and blogging about them on my site. Sure enough, that actually got caught his attention, and he was very interested in the idea.
Shortly thereafter as I started posting about his site and the service, he started commenting on my blog. The next day he even mentioned me in his daily newsletter and his blog post with a link to my site. This immediately pumped the traffic to my site by two fold. Not only was I getting a significant amount of traffic from his link, I was also getting a valuable backlink from a prominent investing site.
So to summarize, I encourage all of you to go through some of the blogs you currently read that are related to your blog, and see if there is an opportunity for you to get involved with the site owners. If hthey have a subscrition service, think about how you can take advantage of it to get their attention. No matter how prominent and major the blog is, all blog owners are reachable one way or the other. It is the cold truth that by being “average”, you will likely not grab their attention and get a response. Therefore, you need to come up with a way to “stand out” in the crowd and catch their interest.
Here some of the approaches you could take (but not limited to):
- Reach out asking for an interview for your blog post with a link back to the site owner
- Do a site review for a site and let the owner know
- Subscribe to the blog owner’s subscription services and blog about it
- Reach out with a parnership idea that could benefit both parties
- Even pay the site owner to feature your site. I personally believe its far more valuable than investing in ad campaigns
- Write a great quality content and give the publishing right to the site owner in exchange with a backlink

Those are great tips! Another way that gives you almost instant traffic is blog commenting.Comment on other blogs related to yours and you will get a link back and people will visit your blog to learn more.

Great info, also a good way to get backlinks and visitors to your website is to jump on the latest news that is going around and being top news of the time.Just make comments on those online posts and leave a backlink
Like the Swine Flu that is in the news all the time now.
I have several articles about it and a very good remedy for it, in fact I have two things that will stop that H1N1 Flu in its tracks, without getting the vaccine for it, that may make you sicker than if you catch the flu.
These trends make great interests in the news and it is a good way to take advantage of it while it lasts. That is how I get a lot of traffic to my healthy blog.

It also illustrates the same ol’ fact that the fastest highest leverage way to accelerate any sort of marketing results is to figure out a way to get referrals (Links in SEO-world) from those who already have the attention of the market you wish to get.

A super tip! I get a lot of backlinks from hundreds of ning social networks. The ones that have memberships of a few thousand members that are active work best. Google gives more love to them than the free ad sites.

This could work good or even very good in a niche that is not so exposed to these practice. For the money making niche or IM niche it will prove to be difficult.
It might not work out as in this post, but worth the try and effort.

Ok, peeps.. I got something interesting to add. I think you guys know social bookmarking on sites like mister-wong and jumptags can help in getting more backlinks, PR, and traffic. Well.. a few days ago i was invited in beta-testing a brandnew tool that can automatically submit URL’s to the biggest social bookmarking websites.
