Unique Way To Drive Traffic

A blogger always aims for more traffic flow to his blog, same as me and I did it my way. I had been blogging pass 1 year and I successfully drove traffic to my blog.
About traffic, its the reflection of success of a blog and blogger. A blog can be successful if it gets more number of hits and it is unsuccessful if it has lesser number of it. This is the reason why every blogger is quite stress to get a lot of traffic and constantly tries to get more number of hits on his blog.
So what I did in this 1 year are the one I listed below:
1. Write posts that is hot to be read right now.
2. Bookmark your site to social bookmarking websites, i.e. digg, del.icio.us, reddit
3. Be among the first with a great blog on your topic, then encourage others to blog on the same topic.

25. Create a lens and highlight your best posts.
26. Make a content that is worth buying but you give it free – it attracts loads of people.
27. Place alt tags - Placing an alt tag on your pictures will surely help you get a higher Search Engine ranking.
28. Write about making money.
29. Share your knowledge.
30. Use the sociable plugin, It ads all the known bookmarking websites and puts it in your posts. This makes bookmarking easier for your readers.
31. Try and become a guest poster on a popular blog. Be persistent

33. Use Blogrush.
34. Use Technorati.

39. Submit Themes, with your link on it.
40. Leave your footstep in forums.

Yes, very important is topic 59 – never give up.
“”17. Become top commentator on big traffic blogs.”"
I do not particularly agree to this one. It depends on the niche or type of blogs you are on. For example being top commentator on John Chow will maybe bring u traffic but if your own niche is different its useless. I am saying this coz, at times a blogger can read one niche quite often but he blogs on a totally different blog structure.
Like me. I read a lot of SEO, Blogging Tips and even some MMO blogs but I do not particularly blog much on these.
18. Write about Google, Digg and other hugely popular sites.
Yes this is one trick many do no talk about. Talk about Google and they’ll love you
But it is better to write something original or announce a breaking news rather than just copying every time what techcrunch or mashable are announcing.
50. Admit your faults.
This is the best. I have made lots of really qualified friends via blogging by admiting my own faults. At times a reader can be right and the blogger wrong..so admitting the fault is nothing to be ashamed of.
And 61th…always aim higher.
Interesting list with some good ideas… however, number 33 – BlogRush is history… it’s been shutdown…
I am appalled!
Why would the owner of such a successful domain let it go to waste?
A PR 4, Alexa 234k and who knows how many daily hits…
I am convinced that you or me would have replaced the site with something else of interest for the targeted audience or even simply have redirected the domain to another profitable site.
What do you think?
BlogRush was created by/domain owned by John Reese. Regarded to many as the most well known and respected Internet Marketer on the planet.
He is accredited for being the first internet marketer to make over $1 million in 24 hours with the launch of his marketing course “Traffic Secrets” back in 2004.
It worked like a ponzi/pyramid scheme and many other traffic exchanges. For every click you get on the blogrush widget on your site, you recieve 2 credit. These credits where used when your sites link appeared on another blogs blogrush widget. In other words, the more clicks on your widget links, the more times your site will appear on other peoples blogrush widgets. Exponential growth in website traffic.
From memory he spent about $500,000 on developing blogrush. It was an ingenious idea with huge potential. Even a pyramid scheme is flawless if everybody was honest and followed the rules. But like most good things, a minority of people ruined it for the majority. There where way to many security floors and ways to game the system. dodgy programmers created programs to automatically refresh and click on the widget links. This amassed a huge backup of credits and the widget was full of spammy links with bad titles and unrelated destinations.
Blogrush had many critics due to its floors but since it was a FREE service that anybody could join and discard, I dont know why they bothered whining. Since John was funding the project and it was only creating headaches and profit losses for him, so he decided to scrap it.
It still is a great idea and only needed more money to put into it to eliminate the bugs. Pitty a larger company didnt buy him out.
The Alexa rank is so high due to each click on and widget being considered a visitor hit to the blogrush.com site. When you consider tens of thousands of blogs using the widget, you can see its only accumulated traffic and not a true reading.
As for John monitizing the website. I doubt its worth his time or effort. He is making millions, got many other projects on the go and blogrush is a failiure to him that he would probably want to forget.
He wouldnt sell the domain – BlogRush & John Reese is a VERY branded name in Internet Marketing and he wouldnt want his name assocciated with the domain and future products and services offered on it if he did sell it.
Oh, wow, What a story!
I can understand how frustrating it must be that after investing half of a million dollars one would end up with such a vulnerable application.
I sure would want to forget all about it too.
I never give up on blogging and I am still learning every day.
Great tips – Thanks!
Hi, fantastic article. But you don’t practice all that you preach. #58, add translations: where are yours?
I have printed out your post and added to “my things to do and not to do list” that will generate more traffic to my blog.
Why?
I can’t remember all of them…
Thank you,
It is impossible to do all the items unless you have a team doing for you. Great tips anyway.
yeah i agree pohheng……but we must keep on moving…if we dont have a team, we can do the tips one by one, and choose, which tricks more suitable to us
Awesome
Interesting and informative, but you should follow #47, ‘Use correct grammar’ yourself. Your list was full of sentence fragments, missing words and incomplete sentences, which makes it hard to read, especially for people whom use English as a second language.
For example – ’1. Write posts that is hot to be read right now.’ should be ‘Write posts that ARE hot to read right now.’
Also, making your 404 page redirect to your home page should be set up with a delay so a person can read your customized ‘page not found’ message instead of instantly redirecting them, otherwise they can get frustrated trying to get to the same page over and over.
Alt tags in images are useful from a human readability perspective, however according to the StomperNet guys Google no longer indexes the alt tags because of keyword stuffing and other abuse. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use alt tags, but that you shouldn’t sweat over what to put in them too much. Just include information that will be useful to visually impaired visitors.
Some of the minor search engines, such as Ask.com might still use them, however.
Overall, I found your list to be informative and there were a few items in it that I had not considered before.
Wayne
Actually, according to Matt Cutts, google does take Alt tags into account:
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NbuDpB_BTc
Whether indexed or not, I think it is very important to use the alt tag no matter what because people will find your blog through pictures. Not only I did noticed a lot of traffic coming to my blogs through image searches but personally I often do my searches through images first and have found some great blogs that way.
Really like Tip #44 about using trackbacks. Did some research to understand what they are and how to use them. Great tip and thanks for sharing!!
you gotta love the number 59.
Like some, other people may not agree to your points but then again, the results will always based on the publishers motivation on how he/she pull this one out.
Don’t forget that, adding “deceiving links” like “watch live streaming video free” wherein you are pointing to a dead-end link just to have traffic is one of the biggest mistakes of some newbie publishers. (at least link the source to what your article is saying about)
here goes the million and dollar link: Get it while its hot
lol
I totally agree! Never give up because the road can be tough and long… Great post! I disagree on trackbacks though. They are useless to me.
And before you start, make sure that you have enough time for all this.
Whether you make money with it or not, successful blogging can easily demand all of your time.
It’s totaally right. i am using soma of them and going to use anothers. Thanks..
I have a big list like this and I print this out for each web site I own. It is like a form that has a place for data beside each promotion method, only there is multiple places for dates so I can come back and redo each promo method when ever I see fit and record the date.
In the digital world it seems strange yes but I have far too many sites to keep up on if I don’t do it this way. It is nice to pick up the binder I keep this in and browse it for sites needing promotion, I always leave plenty of space for notes so when I come up with new or interesting way to promote I can add footnotes coded with numbers. I just update each site to say – promo # 65 – and see footnotes for what # 65 is if needed.
I then have a section for each site with a page where I can write notes about each promo and the results for 1 year divided by 52 for each week. This is just a box with 52 vertical lines and 100 horizontal lines. The page has 3 of these boxes, one for Google, Bing and yahoo. These boxes are used as a graph for spots 1 to 100 for Google, bing and yahoo. I check each website every Friday and make a little pencil dot for that week and the site position. I connect each dot with a line, this produces a nice looking little graph. You may think this is stupid but I like to be able to browse my binder and look at the graphs then plan new strategies. I have a page detailing earnings for each method the site uses such as aff links, adsense etc.
Doing this really helps me keep track and compare what works and what does not. I have little red post-it notes I use to flag the sites doing really well so I can pick up the binder and find out what is working and how each site is responding. I can easily copy what works to other sites and use it on new sites.
I own an ISP and web hosting business and have far to much to keep track of every day. If I did not do this I would never be able to keep track of everything. I have friends who I am coaching to build websites for profit and each one also uses a binder to keep track of their sites and methods that work. It is working for them also.
I suppose you could use excel for this but I really like my binder as I can sit any were such as watch TV etc and look through the binder and plan new strategies etc. Then pick up the laptop and get to work. Oh, this goes a long way toward convincing my wife this is all worth while etc. She can see the results. She has an accounting background and likes the summery reports for each site for position and income.
One last thing, I use a program called rank tracker see url below. I have no affiliation with this company and this program is not perfect but it does what it does VERY well. The good – it tracks the rank of every site you own in Google, bing and yahoo and in any other search engine you want.
The bad – it expires after 6 months and you must purchase a subscription to what they call “the rank tracker live plan”. If you buy a long term subscription this works out to a little over 3 bucks per month. This sucks because they are not up front about this – they do not tell you the program expires after six months.
This does assure they will continue to make income and continue to keep the program up to date. After getting over being mad about this I decided it is worth 3 bucks per month to be able to track 150 websites and bought the program.
This program has a demo version that dumps all the data every time it is closed. The demo version is incredibly useful and I used it for months before I finally bought the full version.

I am starting to make much more from my site portfolio then I do at the ISP/web hosting business so I will probably shut these down soon and go full time with building web sites for profit. I hate billing every month and trying to collect from late payers etc. I never have to worry about this with my web sites. Much less stress and the income level is unlimited. Plus I can work from a lounge chair while on the beach in Maui or from a 40 ft boat anchored almost anywhere I can get cell phone service. Some day I will do exactly that.

Great tips! This comment alone is more valuable than the above post!
Why? because tracking is imperative.
I also have a binder (I like having a tangible presentation of my business, it really does add validity to it) that I use to organize marketing plans for my paintball sites, but I’ve had a hard time keeping it organized. The layout of yours sounds perfect. I’ll have to give it a try.
You gave a new life to my binder, lol.
The author mentions about blogrush but the site is no longer active – http://www.blogrush.com/.
Really good list of steps to increase traffic…I am already following up some of them and got some more ideas after reading this post..nice post

Thx
Thank you for the idea. That good list of steps to increase traffic.
I thinks this very useful article for my blog to increase visitor and increase traffic. Thanks
I will give the tips a try and see how it help my site. In the past flickr has helped me get alot of my traffic. Thanks
Great post with lots of good ideas. I will implement some of these asap. I also use several of your plugins.
Thanks for the lists. My blog is a collective data of how I create website. I think it should be too boring for anyone to visit and not even to rememeber me.
Got to make it unqiue!
Thanks for the great post. Stumble Upon has had the biggest impact on our traffic. A huge portion of our traffic comes from our Stumble Upon submissions.
Great post. I would add one more, to the list, though: don’t worry about your grammar when you write posts. No need to go back and re-read them so that the grammar is good.
Some great info for the people that need ways to market their biz. I do use some of these quite often myself, to inform people of my health blog.
Lots of people ignore their health when they are busy and then they come down with a cold, or flu that sets them back some, as they just feel bad.
I use a substance to keep me strong and healthy so I don’t get the latest pathogen that is drifting around the earth making people sick.
It is MMS and Nutrasilver, I mix up a spray bottle of it and just spray it on what ever I touch when out in the public, and it kills all pathogens floating around in the atmosphere. My blog has all that info for you that are out and about all the time and waring down your resistance to pathogens.
Keep up the good info on your blog, and stay healthy.
My Blog is Here
Great list and great COMMENTS, too. binder, stumble, flickr, tracking, etc.
Have 80 or so sites, do maybe 3 or 4 things on the list and make little residual. Clunk.
I kept reading stories of bloggers who did NOTHING and golden showers of coins flowed like magic into their coffers… the fact they write like Hemingway may be a consideration.
“What a dolt i am what a silly headed dolt…”
PS: Great places to learn how to write: People magazine and Sex and the City Transcripts. Phenom writing.
someday will take own advice and definitely yours.
Great list could you sagest the plugins for word press that you mentioned I.E. “top commentators”and “sociable plugin”. And what the heck is “technorati”?
But thanks for the post.

which one of them is the most effective?
I copied you listed and put it in my things to do list. I started but it going to take a lot of time. I’m not getting very much traffic, and I have started to get discouraged. I’m going to try your list as many as I can.
Thanks

proper spelling is important in your blog posts. However, sometimes grammar can be sacrificed. You need to read it and make sure it sounds good. Read your post out loud. Ask yourself if it sounds conversational. Also make sure it is informative to your target. Don’t try to please everyone. Have a clear idea of who you are talking to with your blog. Make every post sound like you are telling your best friend about your topic. this will do more than anything else to give your blog its own unique voice.
I like point number 1, that’s right and no doubt of it. But don’t forget the SEO, it is still important.
I enjoyed this list of tips. I know I get traffic to my blog through “pics” which are actually graphics I create for educators. I need to get more tightly focused though and this will help.
Thanks!
