Keys To Better Blog Monetary Results
I have been blogging since late 2007 and only started seeing results towards the end of 2008.
My niche is organic gardening and I have had 3 blogs since the beginning; each blog dealing with a different aspect of gardening. When I added the fouth one ( OrganicVegetableGardeningGuide.com/blog) in late February this year, I started doing three things differently in order to get people to my blogs: researching my keywords differently, submitting more articles, and offering a better incentive to get people to opt into my list.
When I first started blogging, I did not understand what to look for when I was researching my keywords. The only information I could find dealt with using Google’s search tool to find out how many searches had been done on particular keywords. I had read about the importance of using the proper keywords; however, whatever I read seemed to stress using as many keywords as possible in your keyword line; somehow I don’t think that helped much for none of my adsense ads were getting clicks. Then in November 2008, I came across an article where the writer was saying that he got his success by using not necessarily longtail keywords nor the one at the top of the search engines for that niche but the second or third in line. I decided to follow his idea since obviously I was getting no results using 8, 10, 12 keywords for every post.
I began to look at creating my posts a little differently. Once I had decided to deal with a certain gardening topic, my new strategy was to really think about my post title before I wrote a word. After I had a few ideas, I would then put some related keywords into Market Samurai and check all the results for SEO searches and pay per click searches (broad, phrase, exact). Then I would choose the top 4 or 5 which had the the most searches across the board, take each keyword in turn, and do a second search on my Market Samurai. Once that was done, I would keep the keyword which best fit my topic and got the most attention from both the SEO and the PPC campaigns. Once I was satisfied with my choice, I made sure that keyword was part of my title.
I took advantage of the SEO plugin in my Wordpress by inputting my keywords in the proper “keyword” spot, and used this main keyword plus no more than six possible variations of the keyword which closely related to my topic. In addition, I made sure my information used in that post stayed on topic. That keyword in my topic became my guide.
So the first reason I am getting better blog monetary results is that I am researching differently to find out the popularity of the keyword, making sure that keyword is part of my title, and am using fewer keyword variations in my keyword list.
The second reason I am doing better with my blogs is that I am doing more article submissions. Back in September/October 2008, I had started writing some articles for submission, but was doing it only sporadically. As a result I was seeing some minimal adsense results when I checked my account on Google. However, when I started writing more articles for my new blog, I began seeing a difference in both traffic and adsense income.
The third reason I am doing better is that I have added a more compelling incentive for people to opt in. In all 4 blogs I am now offering the free ebook “The Complete Guide to Organic Vegetable Gardening” in exchange for name and email. So far 40 people have opted in.
After I started my 4th blog and began incorporating my new strategies, I could tell from the numbers next to my 6 highest viewed posts on each blog that each one seemed to be getting more traffic as each month went by. Also I went from $2.00+ per month to as high as $37.00 last month (May, 2009). This month so far (June 17, 2009) Google has registered over 4000 page impression and I have made a total of $18.71 from Google adsense. I know that’s not much, but it’s certainly more encouraging than before. If I were to write at least one article per week for distribution, create more posts, and add Twitter to my arsenal, I should do well with my gardening blogs.

I could not agree more with that you said. Testing is critical to find what works best. I think you have shown with the results from your 4th blog that by tweaking things a little bit you can make a big difference.

Adsense has its ups and downs and in my opinion, it takes quite a few blogs with great titles and keywords to make a dent.

It is best to use only one keyword and concentrate on that keyword in a post to make it a success. Of course, experimentation is important to make sure that we are choosing the right keyword.
Great blog, success of blogging comes from keyword and rich of the content

Hellooooooooooo,
I learned this from wmr.com
I took this title,
The Easiest Way To Set Up A Profitable Blog,
Then wrote a post on the title,
These were my Keywords,
blogging made easy, easiest way to blog, set up a blog
A few hours later,I ranked #2 on Google,
Pretty simple Huh!
To Everyone’s Success,
Gary,
Glad to see that you made some improvement from the adsense.
It’s refreshing to see someone excited about making a few dollars more in Adsense without all the hype about making $Thousands on an affiliate product. I am a ‘part time’ blogger, in that I work full time and travel a lot, so the time spent on my 4 blogs is not what it could be. The goal of my blogs is not to make a lot of money at this moment, but to at least pay the bills.
Article marketing is something my blogs do get traffic from. So it’s all relative - the more articles I submit, the more traffic I get. Sometimes market hype either discounts article submissions or exaggerates their value, but I do find value in article submissions.
nice story tips to get improvement for Google Adsense.
Very nice blog post. Adsense is something I played with before. I used the arbiterage strategy to male my first $100 and to tell you the truth I dfidn’t like that strategy at all because buiding a website was time consuming and finally finding a network that offered clicks cheap enough to give me a positive ROI was also time consuming and the whole process wasn’t really worth the effort.
I curently have 3 blogs. None of them have adsense on them. one blog brings me at least 100 visitors a day. Another about 35 and the last one (the one my name is attached to) is dead. I have been thinking about adding adsense to my blogs since I don’t seem to be getting any subscriber to by my books.
I will try to implement your strategy.
Nice to read the post.
I had started blogging from june 2009.
My current adsense total earning is $50.8. I had made some autoblogs and getting around 10 to 20 hits daily without write any posts.
I do have other original content blogs but most of my articles are from some PLR. What do you thinks about it. Please any suggestions.
You should check out Begong.com it seems promising. Allow a community of people to help make your site a success if you don’t mind sharing a little of the profits. But your potential to earn will go way up.
Another very important - and often completly ignored - issue when trying to extract every possible penny from your blog is GEO Targeting.
By that I mean presenting only affiliate ad blocks relevant to the blog visitors country.
This Geo Targeting Script will dynamicaly show your affiliate ad codes which are relevant to the visitor .. or a default ad block ie Adsense, if you dont have affiliate ads for their country.
Another great post. I will definitely try this strategy.
FitnessHealthPlan.com is my first website about two months old. I getting very little traffic and no comments. So, I’m reading every thing I can find, trying to learn. I give this a try to see if it will change things. Keep writing, I could learn something. Have a nice day. Sheila, Thanks
Totally agree with everything said here. Keywords are essential to get ahead.I have found it pretty hard getting the balance right. I have written loads of articles and submitted them to the ezines as well as trying to get a balance with the blog.
I currently rank number one in google for “innermindset” Have also submited a short video to youtube on jim rohn quotes. Still havent made any money yet so am wondering what else can be done………..
take a look and if anyone has any feedback it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Well, it is your story. But success story from my friend is very fast to earn dollar from Google adsense, maybe you keyword target is high competition, then it took so long to grab the visitor.
But, your story encourage me of course, thanks.
This is a great article!!!
This is awesome. But the road is long and hard and so unrewarding
Thanks for sharing your story. We can all definitely learn from it.

I love blogging, but to tell the truth my best part is to create a forum page and let my guests talk to each other.
Of course it is time consuming to watch them talk, because you have to monitor everything but on the other hand, every single pieces of text that my guests posted do get index on the search engines.
I don’t mind hire couple friends to monitor the forum page as well, because they also get traffics from posting their links for free!
And hopefully when things get better with my forum in the future, they’ll get commissions from doing nothing but watching.
It’s really fun to create a forum page, and I should have started years ago.
I stopped using adsense, after I noticed that the ad revenue was dropping even as my pageviews were going up. Plus, I don’t like the idea of helping a corporate behemoth that might one day start censoring the internet. I signed up for a site called pyrabang. The runs ads on high quality independent websites, plus I get some income from referrals plus quality traffic to my sites. Since, I am a retailer, I make money on the traffic.

Top Site! Kudos on the fantastic job!
