QUICK START GUIDE

Before we begin:

Before we begin, there are two things that should be cleared :

A “Zone” means a group of banners which is displayed at specific positions on your blog. Max Banner Ads comes with two default zones : the top zone and bottom zone.

A “Banner” means what you want to be displayed there.

Step 1 : To navigate to the Max Banner Ads control page :

Go to Manage >> Max Banner Ads.

You will see this Max Banner Ads home.

Step 2: To add a banner at the top of your blog :

  1. Click on the “Add now” button.

  2. Fill in the text boxes as required .

  3. Hit “Save”.

Step 3: To add a banner at the bottom of your blog :

Repeat the steps for adding a banner at top of your blog with changes as necessary.

Step 4: To add a banner within the first post:

  1. At the Max Banner Ads home , click on the “Add new zone” link.

  3. Hit save.

Step 5: To add a new banner as a widget at the sidebar of your blog:

  1. At the Max Banner Ads home , click on the “Add new zone” link.

  3. Hit “Save”.
  4. Navigate to Design>>Widgets.
  5. Click on the Add link besides the “MBAN-widgetbannername”.

  6. On the right sidebar showing the current widgets, Click on “ Save Changes”

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:

The Quick Start Guide outlines all the necessary steps you need to take to have this plugin running for your blog.Some more detailed information for the numerous options present in this plugin is described here.

The options in the Max Banner Ads Home page is described below:

Generate Stats options:

You can decide the zone for which you want the statistics to be displayed in the Max Banner Ads Home.

In the drop down box, select the zone you want and click on “Generate Stats”.

Status Option:

You can choose whether you want a banner or zone to be or not be displayed in your blog by clicking on the “check mark” icon. The check mark changes into a cross when you click on it meaning it is not visible to the readers.

Action Option:

You can edit, reset, or delete your zone or banner by clicking on the appropriate icons.

More options:

Click on the more options link from the Max Banner Ads Home.

You can select which zone stats you want the plugin to show by default. If your zone contains a lot of banners and it takes a lot of time for all of them to load onto your Max Banner Home page then you can choose which zone statistics you want to be shown by default.

You can also enter your Clickbank ID. A Clickbank ID is need for branding the “Powered by Max Banner Adds” link with your affliate link. You can learn more about the affiliate program here.

You can also disable all the banners in this plugin by checking the box. Disabling all banners allows you to see how your blog would look like without any banners without deactivating the plugin.

The options in AddNewZone>>Max Banner Home is given below:

Zone name:

You can give the zone any name you wish. This is not displayed on your blog and is only for administrative purposes.

Position:

You can decide whether you want your banner on the top of you post, bottom of your post, within any post or as a widget in the sidebar.All you need to do is check the appropriate box. You can even check all four of the boxes if you like.

Adjusting alignment for top and bottom zone position:

If you decide to place your banner at the top/bottom of your first page you can choose how you want to align the banner at the top/bottom.

Click on the “Adjust Alignment” link to show this box.

  • If you choose the fixed alignment radio button, then in the drop down box, you can choose to either left align, center align , or right align.

  • If you choose the “Random Alignment” radio button, then in the checkbox, you can choose various random alignment options. If you uncheck any of the boxes then the plugin excludes that option from being randomized. This helps avoid add blindness.

  • If you choose the “Custom” option, you can customize the plugin to choose after or before which piece of code you want your banner to appear. In the “Before Code” textbox you should enter the code that should appear BEFORE the banner. In the “After Code” textbox you should enter the code that should appear AFTER the banner. If you still aren’t sure what this option does, it is better that you don’t mess with this option on your live blog.image017.jpg

Choosing which post number your zone is to be placed in :

Click on the check box for which posts you want the banner to display in. The number 1 means the most latest post at your blog. Numbers 2, 3 4, 5, 6 mean the same accordingly. Clicking on “all” make your zone display the banner in all the posts.

Adjusting the fixed alignment for the zone within the post:
Click on the “Adjust Alignment” link and you will see a box like this.

  • The position of the zone can be decided to be within the post but at its bottom or within the post but at its top.

  • You can even wrap the text in the post according to the banners in the zone. UNchecking this options will make your banner appear at the before the text of the post.

  • You can even choose where within the post you want your banner to appear.

    • If you choose right, your banner will appear at the right side of the post and your post text will be wrapped accordingly to the left.
    • If you choose left, your banner will appear at the left side of the post and your post text will be wrapped accordingly to the right.
    • If you choose center, your banner will appear at the center of the post and your post text will be wrapped accordingly to the right and left.
  • You can customize the plugin to choose after or before which piece of code you want your banner to appear. In the “Before Code” textbox you should enter the code that should appear BEFORE the banner. In the “After Code” textbox you should enter the code that should appear AFTER the banner. If you still aren’t sure what this option does, it is better that you don’t mess with this option on your live blog. image022.jpg

Adjusting the random alignment for the zone within the post:
Click on the “Adjust Alignment” link and you will see a box like this.

Select the “Random” radio button.This box will appear.

Simply UNselect any option that you don’t want the plugin to randomize. For example if you don’t want the banner to appear randomly at the top of the post UNselect the “Top” checkbox.If you don’t want the banner to appear randomly at the top left of the post UNselect the “Left” checkbox within the “Top” option.

Making your Zone into a widget:

This makes the zone display the banners as widgets in your side bar.
The steps to make your widget banner appear in your blog is given in the quick start guide.

More options:

You can enter the number of banners you want to be displayed in your blog zone by entering the number at the textbox. If you want to show 9 banners in a zone but there is space for only 4 banners , then you should type in “4″ in the text box. This way your 9 banners will randomly be displayed in the space provided for 4 banners.

The various options in AddNewBanner>>MaxBannerHome are described below:

  • Banner name:
    This is only for administrative purposes and is not visible to the readers of your blog.
  • Image URL:
    This gives the URL of the banner image. The banner image can either use an already existing URL, or it can be uploaded from your computer or it can also be uploaded from a URL.
  • Link:
    You need to specify the link to which the banner image will point to eg. http://www.yourbannerlink.com
  • Zone:
    You can specify which zone you want the banner to be displayed. The drop down box shows all the zones that have been created in the plugin. Choose one.

  • Fill image URL and link from code:
    You can copy code from somewhere else and paste it in textbox area. Click on the “Extract and fill image url and link” button and the plugin will automatically fill in the banner image URL and banner image link for you.

    For example, copy and paste the following code into the textarea.
    <a href="http://www.linktoyourbanner.com>
    <img src="http://www.bannerimage.com/bannerimage.jpg>
    </a>

    Now hit the “Extract” button. You will see that the “Link” and “Image URL” fields are automatically filled.

    NOTE: Be sure to select the “Banner URL” radio button in the “Image URL” section. Else the “Extract” option will not work.
